Kids Care Preschool

Established in 1995, the Kids Care Preschool provides licensed preschool programs for children aged 3 to 5 years old. It is operated by South Vancouver Family Place, a non-profit organization which offers services and programs to families with children 0-5 years old at a number of locations in South Vancouver.

The programs are grounded on the knowledge of the children’s growth as well as their emotional, social, intellectual and physical development. The programs are run under the guidance of qualified Early Childhood Educators.

The preschool operates from September to the end of June and is closed during school winter and spring break as well as statutory holidays. There is a separate summer preschool program run in July and August. Please see website for more details.

At Kids Care we believe…

Your work as parents is important and valid.

Children learn best through play, manipulation of materials, exploration, and experimentation in an environment which takes into account a child’s development.

About

Our History

The South Vancouver Family Place Society  began operating the Family Place Drop-In Program in the Victoria-Fraserview area of Southeast Vancouver in 1977. Since 1991 this area has undergone rapid growth and continues to develop as a multicultural, multilingual community, with a large number of immigrant families.

In 1992, the City of Vancouver began constructing a childcare facility and was leased to South Vancouver Family Place Society which will be responsible for setting up and administering this childcare facility now called “Kids Care Preschool”. In November 1995, Kids Care opened to serve the community with a preschool program and kindercare program. The kindercare program was terminated in 1998.

In 1999, due to the growing demand of Chinese immigrants, a Bilingual Program (Chinese & English) was set up to complement the existing English Program Kids Care Preschool.

Teachers

The English Program is operated under the guidance of two qualified preschool teachers, both licensed as Early Childhood Educators and both holding first-aid certificates. They have many years of childcare experience.

The Bilingual Program (English/Chinese) is operated under the guidance of a qualified preschool teacher, licensed as an Early Childhood Educator and holding a first-aid certificate. She also trained in Hong Kong and has more than twenty years childcare experience. She speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
